mine is conair.... $15 bucks at the grocery store for a one inch ceramic plate... i think they make em up to five inches. jsut make sure you use a very good conditioner and you'll be fine... and don't set it on a higher setting than you need!!!Other than the Chi(sooo expensive)are there any other really good hair straightener irons that you recommend?

i loooove my straightener.its the infiniti by conair.it works like a chi but is only $40!
Wow...everyone wants to know about flat irons today!

Chis are very over rated in my opinion. I have had several die out after only a short while. And, some people think they are getting the same product if they buy the cheaper Chi...nope..you will just fry your hair. And I know a lot of stylists and none of them use Chis anymore.

My favorite flat iron so far is the Paul Brown Hawaii. It just makes the hair super smooth, shiny and soft. My friend uses the Sedu on all her clients and she really likes that one. GHD are also good, but those are going to cost even more than the Sedu or Paul Brown.

I guess its just personal preference, but since they are pricey, you should do your research. I always tell people to research them and read the reviews on www.folica.com.

Good luck :)
Hey';

I would really recommend GHDs but they are quite expensive!!

However Babyliss is brilliant卢

I would really recommend those!

hope it helps!

gawjux gal xx
I didn't want to buy a Chi either because it was too expensive.

I use pro-select. I think it works wonders. I got it at TJ Maxx for 30 bucks and the retail price was 60 or higher. On the box it says 150. But, if you straighten your hair often, just get the Chi. It would be a good investment in the long run.

If i can use my flat( hair straightener)iron in India do i need to use a converter, adapter or something?

If the voltage for your straightener is 220V then you will be fine. If not, you need to use an adaptor to change the current from 220V - 110V. This is easily available in any electrical shop in India, so you wouldn't need to carry it on your journey.

Alternatively (and this could save you some cash), go to a beauty parlour and let them do the hard work for you =).If i can use my flat( hair straightener)iron in India do i need to use a converter, adapter or something?
yes if you are getting your irons from USA then you have to buy a transformer to convert the Voltage from 230 V to 110 V...

Be careful before plugging any electrical appliances purchased in USA and brought to India.........If i can use my flat( hair straightener)iron in India do i need to use a converter, adapter or something?
i dont know, what are the electrical outlets like in india?
If your flat iron is dual-voltage, it will say so on the label. It might have a switch you have to flip. If it is, an adapter should be fine, but you're taking a risk. I blew up my hair dryer that way, but it was cheap and could have just been ready to blow anyway.

Your best bet is to use a transformer, which is a huge, heavy, expensive thing. It plugs into the 220 outlet and converts it to 110 power.
It depends what your voltage and plug is on the straighteners you have.

From experience of taking straighteners to foreign places I have found them to not work as well as at home due to the voltage changes etc..

Could you not go Au natural whilst in India?

Have a look on the link to see if your country has an adapter for India.
It will be cheaper to buy a straightner in India - $5 and give it away when you leave saves you on carrying a wrong type and you will give happiness to someone. Voltage is 250 volts and it is round pin plug two or three pins

  • Will using a hair straightener/iron too often cause permanent damage to your hair? If so, will it grow back?

I recently bought a Sedu Hair Straightening Iron and have been using it for about a month every week or so. At first, I loved it because I got stick straight hair and it was shiny and healthy-looking. I turned the heat pretty high and you could hear the iron sizzle as it made contact with my hair (is that a bad thing?). Now I've noticed my hair at the front seems to be thinning or it doesn't seem as dense as it used to be. I know using a hair iron too much will damage your hair. I want to know if I stop using the hair iron for a certain time, will my hair grow back? Or is the damage permanent?! Please tell me no! Thanks! Will using a hair straightener/iron too often cause permanent damage to your hair? If so, will it grow back?
using the iron does damage the hair but it's never permanent. your hair is always growing and thus you're always getting a hair cut to get rid of this frizzy, split ends. Don't worry. If you want to improve it use a better conditioner to protect against the heat and keep your hair moisturized. If you want to, you can even take a break from the iron a few months and blow dry your hair. it won't be stick straight but you can at least put it in cute updos to hide it. a few months should give your hair time to grow out that damaged hair and have a full head of shine. Will using a hair straightener/iron too often cause permanent damage to your hair? If so, will it grow back?
Well I always use a flat iron because my hair just would look horrible without it but I know people who have had bad experience with flat irons. It really depends on your hair and how strong it is. Some hair can't take the heat and will immediately dry up and look really damaged. My friend's mom's hair was like that and she ended up cutting off most of her hair and it grew back fresh and new lol. But i dont think you want to do that.
Your hair will grow back. Never turn a hair appliance on high ever. Even if your hair doesn,t burn ,heat drys out your hair and you could end up with a bad case of the frizzies, anyways. The best hair appliances that iron out hair are ceramic plated ones. Trying not to use your straightener too often, just once a week or so is good, just like you,ve been doing.
it depends on how high you put it on and sorta how much you damaged it.and if you use lots of shampoo everyday then your hair might grow faster and back but shampooing your hair everday isn't heathy for your hair cauz it's still needs the fresh vitiam form the air
The iron sizzles probably because you're using it after you shower, and your hair isn't completely dry yet. Straightening your hair too much can burn it, and will definitely give you split ends. It can also thin out your hair.
if you use a straightner too much it will cause split ends, you should try spraying in some product before you straighten, try CHI Iron Guard it will protect your hair from the extreme heat. the sizzling that you hear is probably wetness or moisture in your hair
It would depend on how much you damaged it.
    it does damage your hair
It should. Are you using a good treatment with your iron? You must use it. They make special stuff for it. Any time you hear a sizzle...you are take moisture out of your hair. Are you using it on wet hair. Never use any iron on wet hair. Now if your using a product, and not letting it dry, then that may be the sizzle, but if your not, then what you are hearing, is moisture coming out of your hair. After time, that causes hair breakage, which isn't good. Turn it down on the lowest setting, to straighten, and don't let it set on your hair. Go at a steady pace downward.

What is the best HAIR STRAIGHTENER IRON ?

    Chi ? Babyliss ?

Please give me your reviews!!What is the best HAIR STRAIGHTENER IRON ?
Chi straightening iron ave one and it works greatWhat is the best HAIR STRAIGHTENER IRON ?
Honestly you don't need to spend a fortune on hair straightners. I have had about four different ones including a GHD and the best one i've ever had and still have is a Conair Ceramic hair straightner which i got at Boscov's for around $30.00.
    ion or tool science.

    chi tears up real quickly.
Remington are the best, im a guy by the way
    Neither, GHD's are top
    a conair one

    it costs 100 dollars

Can anyone tell me if SCP CERAMIC HAIR STRAIGHTENER IRON is good?

i bought thi son ebay is this worth 50.00 dollars or not please only refer to this question (i know that chi is the best lol) thanksCan anyone tell me if SCP CERAMIC HAIR STRAIGHTENER IRON is good?
dont know it, dont care for it. the sedu is my love.

    Which hair straightener(iron) should i get??!!!plz help!!?

i want that thick straight hair look ,where each hair strand looks thicker, does it automatically look when u straighten ur hair or is there something special i need to do....plz answer my question n which hair straightening iron should i get without spending much??!!!n how do Conair irons work?are they good enough?Which hair straightener(iron) should i get??!!!plz help!!?
Hair thickness depends on your hair not an iron. If you think it's too thin try a volumizer then style. Personally I don't like conair for over the counter irons, try Revlon or Andis. They're inexpensive, but with better results.Which hair straightener(iron) should i get??!!!plz help!!?
ok to be honest Conair irons suck. It makes your hair straight for two seconds and then something rly weird like walking down stairs takes the straightness out of your hair.

I have a HairArt flat iron, and it was the best money I have ever spent. I got it on Amazon for $80 and it was totally worth it. It can straighten, curl, and flip my hair. However do not use any kind of gel or spray before, because at the end of the day when you are brushing your hair out and hear your hair making noises. You are literally ripping the hair out of your head. One product that you can use is Sexy Straight Hair. It works rly well, and doesn't make your hair look greasy. Most of the time you don't need this, because the flat iron makes your hair straight without it.

Don't get a Chi, whatever you do don't get a Chi. They may work rly, rly well for the one month they last. But they brake or the plate comes out. Also don't get a Bedhead straightener. They make your hair smell like plastic, and it doesn't straighten your hair.

For a little bit more money you can go to target and get bed head. It's great. I've used Helen of Troy from Salley's that is pretty good and around $30. Some times T.J. Maxx has really good ones like Chi and Metropolis ones for really cheap. I bought a Metro one for $45.00, and it's the best I've ever used! For the thickness look. Use a thickening product and blow dry your hair upside-down with a round brush. Then straighten it.

i have it i love it better then my sisters CHI i had a chi and not even 6 months later one of the hot plates sliped off and burned me i love the sedu it leaves my hair nice and shiny :)
conairs are worthless. 10 minutes later your hair is back to the way it was. the CHI is the way to go. its expensive but its so worth it.
    Solia
    I am in Australia.

I just brought the new GHD Iron - around $200 and it is fantastics.
a really pretty hair straightner called CHI is 130 dollars

Chi infusion+2007 ceramic hair straightener iron pink?

do you think i should buy this. i have a strighterner but it dont work that good my straightener is relvon. do you think i should buy this. is this a good straightener?? also it's only $20.00 i'm going to buy it from ebay.Chi infusion+2007 ceramic hair straightener iron pink?
that sounds like the kind my hairdresser uses on me. if it is,get it it really works..only get my hair flat-ironed once a week.

    Revlon or Conair hair straightener/iron?

I straighten my hair every year at a salon and now I have permed wavy hair. Sometimes I get bored and wish to straighten my hair myself. I do not want to spend over $50 on a straightener but a regular or rather cheap one as long as it straightens my hair.

I was looking at Revlon and Conair. Which one is better? Or is there any other economic brand?Revlon or Conair hair straightener/iron?
revlon works for a longer time but conair sometimes works better. overall revlon is the best. some people also mentioned the remington wet 2 straight. i heard its pretty good. also hot tools.Revlon or Conair hair straightener/iron?
    should get conair

    better quality
I would definently recommend a Revlon. I got a Revlon straightener for 20 bucks at Walmart and it worked really good! It lasted for about 3 years too!
Well, I recently got an Infinit by Conair straightener and curler. It is pretty good.

Make sure you buy ';ceramic'; straighteners/curleres (it should tell you on the box if it it ceramic). Because it dosen't damage your hair as much as the non- ceramic straighteners/curlers
revlon straightener, for sure. i used to have a conair straightener and a revlon curler and it didnt really work. but now i have a conair curler, and a revlon striaghtener, and both work amazingly. but revlons much better as a straightener than a curler for me. try and get the ceramic one.
i got a fantasic Conair ceramic straightener for $26

    http://www.ulta.com/control/product/~pro鈥?/a>

maybe check on some toher ones on this site . .i have an Ulta store around me . . check to see if ther is one by you . .they have some pretty amazing stuff.
i got a 10$ revlon one at the big lots i think. it works really well even though its not ceramic
well...to be perfectly honest, both brands suck...i know because i had both and neigher lasted longer then 3 months...so if you want a GOOD straighter, then get Hot Tools (professional) and its only about 35-40 dollars depending on which you choose and its lasted me 4 years so far and counting, so i would say invest in a good one instead of getting a cheap one because in the long run, the cheaper one would end up being the more expensive one since you will probably have to keep buying new ones, so you really do get what you pay for...My hair is really thick and curly, so maybe thats why the others didnt work, and maybe im just rough with my straighter, but i would get the more expensive one...and its even under $50....at least it was when i bought it for my sister last year....I hope that this helps....:)
chi is the best hair straightener ever, seriously i love it
nahhh! try andis clippers (size 000) and buzz it down to the scalp. bald-headed would be a nice look for you.
get revoln cermanic flat iron.....the cermanic kind doesnt damage the hair like the metal ones
i havnt tried revlon but i tried conair and its crap! i would suggest a proffesional one from www.folica.com
Revlon all the conairs i have used are horrible! And go with a ceramic one also.
both are great but I use Revlon and it works best to me.
I don't even think Revlon makes a hairstraightner. I went on there websight (below) and couldn't find one. But Conair sucks, don't buy one. If you are going to buy one get a ceramic one, they don't dry out your hair. Here is the websight:

    http://revlon.com/home.aspx
I would say Revlon is better. Sometimes you can find a hot tools straightener on sale, which would be a lot better because that is a great brand.
i love conair. it go well.
I own a ';Hot Tools'; ceramic hair straightener and it works well on my hair, and my hair is really long and thick and it definately wasn't over $50 bucks
    conair is the best
    Revlon.

  • Best Hair Straightener/Iron For Somewhat Damaged, Wavy Hair?

Is CHI really worth the money? I just find it incredibly hard to believe it can be so much better than a bunch of other straighteners that are half the price. What do you think?Best Hair Straightener/Iron For Somewhat Damaged, Wavy Hair?
If your hair is somewhat damaged - don't straighten it lol you'll freakin fry your hair!Best Hair Straightener/Iron For Somewhat Damaged, Wavy Hair?
chi flat irons are sooo worth the cost I've had one for 2 years now and it works great, not like the cheap ones that only make ur hair frizzy and dry!!! with the chi i only have to go over my hair once and its completely straight. I love it...u should definitely spend money on a chi...its well worth it!!!

...but u do need to use some kind of spray or serum..chi also has this great spray called ';44 iron guard'; it protects ur hair from the heat of the iron so it wont burn or dry out!!! hope this helps...
I don't know about CHI, but I use one called Wet 2 Straight. You use it right out of the shower. Your hair will steam and crackle a little when you use it (which scared the heck out of me at first) but my hair has never been healthier and I no longer need to use straightening lotions or gels before straightening. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!
i dont what chi is but i use GHD , i ussually dont use any heat protector and my hair has been higlighten and so far its fine..just make sure u use those leave in hair treatment that repairs your hair once a week
i dont know whats is chi but i use remington and it is really good.it has 3x protection and it even makes your hair shine. i am using it for a long time and it does not damage my hair. you should try it.
The CHI iron is definately worth it! In one swipe the unruly waves in the front of my hair are smooth, shiny, and straight. Of course to avoid hair damage you should use heat serum or gel before hand.
There are many good flat irons out there. I personally recommend one that has a smaller ceramic plate, such as 1 1/4 inch. (it always looks nicer for me)

I had the same problem. I have red and blonde highlights on medium brown hair. My hair is wavy/curly and always poofs out and can be VERY frizzy. Over the past year or so, I found that the flat iron isn't as important as the heat protection/uv protection spray I use. I have something by ';ION'; that I get at my local beauty supply store. It has heat and UV protection (which helps color not to fade) It always is WONDEROUS at controlling frizz....I swear by this product.

    My flat iron is a 1'; ceramic plate by ';Jilbere';

It heats up to 425 degrees...so your hair can't possibly fight back with that kind of heat, lol !

I got it for about 30 dollars on sale; it's amazing, but I must say it smells funny when it's heated up...
i have a chi, and i peronally love it :)

I splurged for a good, expensive hair straightener, and so far CHI hasn't been wrong.

But, learn from my mistake, ALWAYS use heat protective lotion for chi

Girls, what do you think of the Conair Instant Heat hair straightener (iron), and the vital sassoon one?

Any experiences. Please don't tell me to go out and buy a Chi.Girls, what do you think of the Conair Instant Heat hair straightener (iron), and the vital sassoon one?
lol.. i was just going to tell you to buy a chi .. hahaha

but i have tried a couple of conairs before.. i used the ceramic one as well and i hated all of them!.. they didnt exactly get the job done even if i spent hoursss... some people are happy with them though..Girls, what do you think of the Conair Instant Heat hair straightener (iron), and the vital sassoon one?
I think they are both pathetic. I bought both and they both sucked. I prefer a different one I got at Sally's Beauty Supply for $30.00. It really pays to pay more.
I had the conair one and it did not work well. It fried my hair and did not get it very straight.

The vidal sasoon one im not sure i dont think i would recomend one because you will probbally be wasting your money.I got a curling iron and it takes forever to heat up and does not curl well

revlon is a good brand and about the same price

My favorite is remington wet to straight about 30$ but worth it I have had mine for 2 years and i like it.
i have a vidal sassoon one and LOVE it

    go with that

Which hair straightener/iron should I buy?

I really need a new hair iron. Mine is old, and the coating on the plates is starting to come off. I want a GHD, but I like Babyliss too! Anyone know which one will last and work great? All answers appreciated, thanks!!!Which hair straightener/iron should I buy?
ghd is the best straightener you can buy I have One and it makes my hair pin straight it heat up very quickly I straighten my hair in 15 minutes Ive long hair babyliss is not worth to try Ghd is the best investment you can do for your hair.Which hair straightener/iron should I buy?
I'd definitely recommend GHDs. I've had mine for nearly 4 years and they still work perfectly.

What is a good hair straightener(iron) product?

i have like insanely thick curly hair and the one i have broke and would like to get one that is really good for thick curly *** hairWhat is a good hair straightener(iron) product?
Weird, i was going to suggest that one too.(: It's pretty good, it keeps my hair how i want it and gets it really straight and soft. I can go running in the summer and it won't frizz at all. What is a good hair straightener(iron) product?
Chi's are my favorite straighteners - but they are super pricey - about $100.

My stylist told me when I was looking for one to make sure I bought one with ceramic plates. The ceramic conducts heat better and won't be as damaging on your hair.
My straightening iron is called Porcelain and you can get them at Sally's Beauty Supply for only 19 dollars. It also gets rid of frizz. I also recommend using an Ion heat protection spray because it also gets rid of frizz.
i bought a generic chi for 80 bucks. just like the real thing. my hair is so curly and poofy and now it's shiny and straight. plus its not burnt bc chis burn.
the wide GHD are sooo amazing, my sister has hair lyk yours and when she uses them its lyk WOW

yu can but treatments to permanently straighten it ther reli good aswell an then yu done have to straighten as much

    :D

    xxx
GHD's are the best. They get hot in I swear like 4 seconds max. Its great and you don't have to go over it 500 times.

Using a hair straightener iron or putting gel/hairspray in your hair.. which does more damage?

straightening your hair with an iron obviously just pretty much kills your hair by burning and drying it out, but gel or hairspray also dries your hair out and isn't good.

which does more damage?Using a hair straightener iron or putting gel/hairspray in your hair.. which does more damage?
I would go with the iron being worse for your hair. Especially if you use it several times a week. These days most hair products address the potential drying effects wth added conditioners. Or you can use a conditioning spray beforehand.Using a hair straightener iron or putting gel/hairspray in your hair.. which does more damage?
when you straingten your hair you need to have a spray on stuff for straighting your hair and it wont damage.
The iron will, but I've been using one for 5 years on my hair almost every day, and my hair VERY healthy! The key is buying the right one. Go for ceramic, mine is from a salon. Some products you can spray on your hair to minimize damage. Rusk has a few products.
iron...especially because how fast your hair gets dirty, it does more damage...
Well it depends on the gels/hair sprays you use so i would definitly say the Iron is worse because there really is no way around the heat damage you get from it. If you buy professional grade products that nourish the hair, and are free of alcohol they will actually help the hair rather than dry it out.
Straightning your hair! It vertially burns it!
    ILOVEYOU
its only damaging if u do it everyday. if u do it 2-3x a week, its not so bad.

How do u get the heat protectant spray off ur hair straightener iron??

it made a weird orangeish mark on my hair straightener will it damage my straightener? how do u get it off??How do u get the heat protectant spray off ur hair straightener iron??
Be careful about rubbing aluminium foil on your iron as suggested by other users... I used a non-abrasive scouring pad and still damaged my $150-iron!!

I suggest you invest a few bucks in an iron cleaner, it's well worth the money. I use the Sedu iron cleaner. Just spray on your cold iron, leave on 5 mins and wipe with a piece of tissue paper. Done! Your iron will be like new! :)How do u get the heat protectant spray off ur hair straightener iron??
heat the iron on high and ball up some aluminum foil and rub it off.

I have curly hair, and I use the Solia. I got it from Folica.com, and it's the best flat iron for the price i've ever used. It's only $88+free shipping. If you have a little more money to spare, go for the Sedu(also Folica.com). I live in humid Louisiana, and my hair stays perfectly straight unless I sweat or it gets wet. You won't be dissapointed with either. I have both!

I don't reccomend the Chi. My sister has it, and her hair is really dry and damaged. It also pulls the hair, which hurts and makes it come out.

    Hope that helps=)
I use the maxius maxiglide and it works wonderful. I have had it for about 3 years now and my hair stay straight unless it get wet or I sweat.

If you use ';hair straightener iron'; when your hair is wet or completely dry?

I have bought GHD and i want to know when i have to use it, wet hair or after blow dry?If you use ';hair straightener iron'; when your hair is wet or completely dry?
After blow dry. Try to use the spray that's used with the flat iron.If you use ';hair straightener iron'; when your hair is wet or completely dry?
Use it when your hair is COMPLETLY dry.

Because when you hair is wet it will damage the straightners aswell as the hair more quickly.
    After you blowdry your hair.

Unless you want to completely damage your hair.

And make sure you have heat protectant spray :D
well, i use it sometimes when its dry or wet but you hair gets split ends if you use it when you hair is wet so i would use it when your hair is dry.
DO NOT USE IT ON WET HAIR!!!!! Use it on dry hair with a heat protection spray and try not to use it everyday as it will damage your hair.
    After
You should thoroughly dry your hair. Before using the straightening iron you should use a spray, it helps with the straightening process, but it also protects your hair.
when your hair is dry but try not to blow dry it aswell as straightning as straightening does enough damage is you blow dry aswel you will wreck you hair use plenty of pretection aswell and try a treatment while washing your hair to keep it in the best possible condition

    hope ive help
Never use it on wet hair as it will damage it. I straighten my hair quite regularly and so I usually let it dry naturally and then straighten (to minimise the amount of heat on my hair). Also, use a good heat protection spray when straightening
It is best for your hair if you straighten it after you bow dry it. if you straighten while it is still wet, you can cause damage to your hair.

What is the best hair straightener (iron)?

I have heard that the Chi is the best. Is it or is there one that it better?

I don't know if this matters but I have highlighted blond hair and its pretty thin, so I don't want one that will damage it too much.

Also, price is not an object.

Thanks! What is the best hair straightener (iron)?
nope...thats soooooo the best. this pink camo straitner also works the same. thats what demi lovato said. lol.

Anywayz...i tried like 20 different straitners...and my hair never seemed to straiten. until i used that.

so keep usin itWhat is the best hair straightener (iron)?
Chi is a good brand, I have used one before and it works great. But there are other good flat irons. Go to a hair salon and ask what they recommend. They can usually get a good one for a fair price.
chi, I like to get them at gene juarez, they have amazing hair prodects, and the cost idk, like 150 or somthing.
Chi is the best, no doubt about it.

    chi!
i have a Chi and i'm very pleased with it :)

  • When I use my hair straightener iron, I notice LOTS of hair in the sink?

When I straighten my hair with an iron, I have around 80-90 medium\small\large sized hairs fall into the sink by the time I am done. It is set to 200C. I am 16.

Is this normal? When I use my hair straightener iron, I notice LOTS of hair in the sink?
Its normal, but then again it depends on the type of straightener you are using, i would recommend using a ceramic flat iron its better for your hair. Also you should use a heat protect-ant mist to protect your hair from any more damage. It also depends on the shampoo %26amp; Conditioner you are using, i would also recommend not using panteen because that product puts a coating on your hair. When I use my hair straightener iron, I notice LOTS of hair in the sink?
it is damaging your hair. If you have dyed your hair or use scrunchies all the time or hair spray that slowly starts to give your hair split ends and slowly makes your hair start falling out. straightener can do the same thing its breaking your hair because your hair is brittle. start leaving your conditioner in your hair for 5minutes before rinsing it out everyday it will help make your hair strong again. and hold back on the chemicals you put in it. your hair is probably thin and that makes it worse. If you have to straighten your hair then use the lowest setting it has for less heat damage.
Yes, but to minimize this use a flat iron spray, comb your strand of hair before you run it through the iron and use a good conditioner.

Don't pull too hard when your running the iron through your hair.

Spray brush with the flat iron spray, comb through strand and quckly and gently run the iron through the strand.

Your still going to see some hair, but not as much.
it's normal.. when you straighten your hair, your taking moisture out of it causing it to be weak, and die even though hair is already dead, you know what i mean. you might want to try putting some product in it before you straighten it like Moroccan oil (it's expensive in salons but i bet you could buy it off ebay cheap or something) but the **** is bomb!
it is normal to lose hair during the day....but that sounds to me like breakage..maybe due to inadequate conditioning..over coloring/highlighting, too much heat on the hair...dont forget when you blowdry that is also heat on your hair...it dries it out and breaks off...try and good salon shampoo and conditioner and some monthly conditioning treatments...these will help adequatley moisturize your hair...lay off the heat as much as possible
idk how anyone can say thats normal, its really unhealthy and bad for your hair. being 16 like you, try using tresemme heat protecter and nourishing your hair back to health. minimize the straightening because heat causes stress on your hair, tons and tons of stress. also try tresemme anti breakage shampoo/ conditioner. it should help with the falling out of the hair
Try using a heat protector on your hair. Put it in before you use any heated tool. Also try deep conditioning your hair.

To deep condition your hair you...

Get your hair wet, towl dry it, then put a ton of conditioner in.

Then get a dry towl and get it super HOT then ring it out and wrap your hair up in it. Then your hair will become stronger and healthier. Hope I helped:)
I'm pretty sure hair comes out on a regular basis. But not that much, it could possibly be the heat burning it off. You should try putting something in your hair before you straighten it to protect your hair from being burned.
yea because it always happens to me.

but if anything just put the temp lower and don't straighten it as much, if its a lot a lot a lot of hair.

    Hope I Helped! : )
im 15 i put mine to like 200 supper hot that happens to me tooo its normallll :]

it willl grow back no biggie
it's normal, it happens to me too!!!

Can I use a hair straightener (iron) without blow drying my hair first?

And how much does it harm/damage the hair when used constantly? Can I use a hair straightener (iron) without blow drying my hair first?
flat irons damaged hair more than blow dryin does.

u should use thermal products for your hair before flat ironing.try not flat ironing yuor hair everyday.try to go a week without flatironing.if it doesnt work see what best works with you.i really depends on what hair u haveCan I use a hair straightener (iron) without blow drying my hair first?
You don't have to blow dry it, but it does have to be dry. Straightening wet hair is really bad for it, and bad for the straightener, too.

If you use a straightener constantly, make sure you are using a good conditioner and moisturizer, you are getting it trimmed regularly, and you probably shouldn't dye it. Have you ever seen someone whose hair looks like straw? That is often caused by using a straightening iron too often and not taking special care of their hair.
You can iron your hair damp but you absolutely must put a towel between the iron and your hair. That is, if your are talking about an iron like a clothes iron. If your talking about a hair iron, wait till your hair dries natually before your iron it. Otherwise, the hair stylist will be cutting your hair off at the neck because of so much damage. God Bless
If you dont want to blow dry it dry, then you would need to get a wet-straight hair iron first.

I flat-iron my hair ALOT, usually 2 times a day, and sometimes 3, and strangly my hair is extremly healthy.

If you buy products that will protect your hair, then it wont damange it as much.

Who ever says your hair will become dead, is lying, again my hair is extremly healthy, and every mounth or so i dye it black, which is the worse hair color to dye your hair, my hairs been bleeched, chemically straightened, and i straighten it 2 times a day basically, and normally dont use any protection products.

Trust me dont worry about damaging your hair.
well, you don't have to blow it out, but it needs to be at least 90% dry.

while it does damage your hair, you can prevent the damage. give your hair a break from the heat every once in a while. make sure you rid your hair of its splits (the only way is to cut them) and continue to get regular TRIMS (meaning the ends or whatever is damaged.) use a heat protectant and just take care of your hair!
it is not a good idea, although years ago people used this method more often and called it steam styling..

hair tends to be more soft when wet which allows it to break easier. and if done repeatedly with an iron, it will eventually cause it more damage than good. blow dry your hair using a paddle brush and some redken ultimate straightening balm..and this may make your hair straight enough that you won't have to flat iron..good luck
yes but make sure your hair is completely dry before straightening it. it's less damaging then blowdrying %26amp; straightening. i only have a few split ends but it depends on the straightener you use. i use a ceramic straightener (chi) right now but i use to use this gold plated one which didn't give me any split ends at all because it didn't go as hot as the chi
okay well you can let your hair air dry and then straighten it which is the best for your hair especially if you put leave in conditioner while its wet, but there is a straightener that can be used in wet hair, its conair but it sucks and its really bad for your hair
actually, blow drying ur hair first and then straightening it does MORE damage. just brush through it. then add some cream or product and then straighten it. but make sure u ALWAYs have product that protectes ur hair from heat! if not, u'll get bad split ends (knw from my own experience).
Your hair shouldn't be wet when your straightening it. It may not hunt the straightener but it hurts your hair. Blow drying your damages it too. You should let your hair air dry and use heat protector. (my friend did a science experiment on it)

Who invented the first hair straightener/iron?

if people could also give me some background, that would be great.Who invented the first hair straightener/iron?
The first hair straightener was invented by Ian Gutgold using harsh chemicals in lotions applied to the hair and scalp. However, these preparations often led to scorched scalps and damaged hair.

Simon E. Monroe patented a hair straightener in 1906 that was comprised of metallic teeth that are combed through the hair, while in 1909 Issac K. Shero patented a hair straightener comprised of two flat irons that are heated and pressed together.

Years later, Sharrell invented heated metal hair-care implements, such as hot combs. The hot metal straightener slid easily through the hair, causing less damage and dryness than previously-used techniques. Later, ceramic and electrical straighteners were introduced, allowing for adjustment of heat settings and straightener size.Who invented the first hair straightener/iron?
    madme cj walker i think
    My mother.

no one knows for sure, as they have been sold since the 1880s. some people think it is a french invention by Marcel Grateau. but credit is given to madame c.j. walker for popularizing the metal hot combs among black women.

Where I can buy an original CHI hair straightener iron on Internet?

Ebay is a good site or amazon?

I'm looking for cheap irons!Where I can buy an original CHI hair straightener iron on Internet?
As I am sure you know...CHI Straighteners are some of the most expensive (and best) straighteners on the market. If you are really in the market to get the best, Folica.com would be the best place to buy from. But, you are looking for a deal...so, I would try eBay.com as opposed to Amazon.com as you will probably get a better deal bidding on one that buying it outright. In a simple search on eBay.com, I found irons in the price range of ';Starting Bid'; price of .99 cents to a Buy It Now price of $189.99 (for the dryer and the straightener). FYI: the straightener is amazing but the dryer is only so so.

Note: I have purchased items from both Amazon and eBay for years. As long as the seller on eBay has tons of positive comments, your experience should be just fine.Where I can buy an original CHI hair straightener iron on Internet?
no dont buy on those sites i dont trust them.. go to folica they have them but they arent cheap the chi brand isnt cheap but i have one and i have very wavy thic hair and it leaves mine perfectly straight

How do you use a hair straightener iron?

I tried using it but it didn't make my hair straight. How do you use a hair straightener iron?
if u have curly hair, u need to blow dry it first to get the really str8 look !!

maybe u dont leave the iron to warm up long enough, or maybe its jst not a good one, sum r not hot enough .. !

ur hair could be dry ! if it is condition it aloooot b4 u use the iron n it should help !How do you use a hair straightener iron?
If i diddnt work for you then you might need to get a better quality one. Or try these steps.

    1. You must seperate your hair into ';sections';.

(so you take a bit of hair from the area around the bottem of your head which is close to the neck)

    2. One those hairs are straight then you take another section above that one. Then tie the rest of your hair up.

    3. Just keep doing this untill your done.

TIP: the thinner the ';chunk'; of hair you iron the straighter it will be.
You need to buy one that heats more that 350 Degree. If not its just burning your hair. Hair must be complete dry and before you start apply a little bit of frizz-out or hair polish to condition your hair and make it look shinny. Part you hair in four or three sections and start at the bottom. Get hair strands smaller than your flat iron. The hair strand can be 1/2'; or an 1'; but no more, it won't work. Starting from top to bottom do it very slowly and put a comb behind the flat iron while your passing it over the hair that would help the hair to be smooth. Do it one oor two times on the same hair strand and move to the next one. After you are done apply a little bit more hair polish over the hair with your fingers (not too much cause it will make your hair look grease). Good luck! It works for me, and my clients love it.
I use one...it takes patience...make sure that your hair is dry..and use some leave in conditioner before you start. You set the heat setting depending on how thick and course your hair is...it have to use a high setting because my hair is thick, course, and stubborn (naturally curly). Take your hair up in clips sectioning it . Start with the back under section and take small inch sections...start at the scalp and slowly pull the iron down, repeat it a few times. work threw all the sections, then you can go back and touch up parts that need it. You hair should turn out straight and shiney. I also use a large curling iron to give it the shape I want when I am finished. It will stay this way until it gets wet...so stay out of the rain! Good Luck
Well you part your hair then open it and close it on your hair and go down. If it doesn't work maybe you should try a ceramic iron, but it cost like $40 dollars but it works really well. but then again a flat iron doesn't straighten everyones hair.
Make sure that your hair is all the way dry first.
if you've already tried to use it and it doesn't work, you need to blow dry your hair out very good, then use a little hair spray and then try to iron it out. If it still doesn't work, you may need a higher heat, so you may need to go to a professional first so you won't burn your hair.
Maby the straighteners arnt good enough for your hair.

I had that problem once apon a time but now i have GHDs and i have no problems.

    Why dont you try them.

If u dont want to do that try separating your hair into layers and doing it that way, this takes longer but has a better effect
Was it a cheap one? I have 3 of them and the first 2 I bought were cheap like $10 and I went over my hair with them like 5 times and it didn't straighten it, then I bought one for like $25 and it had gold plates and it works wonders. My hair is naturally wavy and it makes my hair super straight and shiny. So try one thats not so cheap and one that says ceramic plates.
I bought a fairly cheap one it was a ceramic by vidal sasson it was about $20 One thing I have to have it one the highest setting My hair has to be completly dry Sometime a little product or hairspray helps.
I have curly hair and I had to buy an expensive one, ionic and ceramic for about $100. It does work GREAT though. It gets really hot and I only have to do each piece one time, instead of going over and over it. The cheap ones didn't work and broke. I have had this one over 4 years with no problem. Just try to blow dry your hair straight, maybe use Bumble/Bumble Sleek %26amp; Shine (I love it) and it will turn out great. Good luck
